About SWCDC
South Windsor Child Development Center is a non-profit organization serving a culturally diverse population of families in the Greater Hartford area. A viable part of the South Windsor community since 1973, our center continues to provide a variety of programs to meet the needs of toddlers through kindergarten-aged children and their families. In addition, the center is fully accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
At South Windsor Child Development Center, we strive to create a comfortable, secure, home-like atmosphere. Our spacious, pastel-colored classrooms include cozy book nooks for reading and resting, and picture windows provide abundant natural light. In addition to the classrooms, our center houses a large indoor area with tricycles, climbing apparatus, and tumbling mats for use on days when the weather does not allow for outdoor play.
Children at SWCDC gain the opportunity to explore and connect with the natural world through a wide variety of outdoor experiences. The center’s exterior includes two fenced in areas with equipment and ample room for children to climb, run, and jump. In a quiet, peaceful spot on the property, a children’s garden flourishes. Here, under the guidance of teachers, the children plant, care for, and harvest vegetables and flowers. Also, with the assistance of community members, a natural play area on our property is evolving; this site will enhance children’s growth and development through daily interactions with the world of nature.
